'National Coffee Day' ☕️ 28 September

Put the kettle on, warm the cups and join us for a coffee!
Coffee is one of those familiar things that can unlock all sorts of memories - the smell of freshly brewed coffee, a favourite café, meeting friends for a cuppa, the coffee break at work, or perhaps that jar of Camp Coffee tucked away in the kitchen cupboard.
For National Coffee Day, we’re taking a light-hearted journey through the world of coffee, with plenty of opportunities to remember, chat, sing, laugh and exercise those little grey cells.
We’ll discover where coffee comes from and how it became such a popular drink in Britain, remember familiar brands and advertisements - including the famous Nescafé Gold Blend couple - and explore how our high streets changed with the arrival of coffee shops and the modern barista.
There are plenty of challenges along the way too, including our Coffee Quiz, coffee-themed picture and recognition activities, and a visit to Central Perk to see what we remember about Friends.
And no Simon’s Dementia Activities page would be complete without some music! We’ll enjoy songs with a coffee connection and familiar favourites to encourage singing, conversation and reminiscence.
Java Jive, The Ink Spots (1940) - The Coffee Song, Frank Sinatra (1949) - Tea For Two (for those who don't like coffee) Doris Day (1950) - Tom's Diner, Suzanne Vega (1990) - I'll Be There For You, The Rembrandts (
So, however you take yours - black, white, frothy, instant or freshly brewed - pour yourself a cup and join in.
