Muffin the Mule and TV Puppets Quiz

20th October this year marks 80 years since Muffin the Mule first appeared on television. For many people, Muffin was one of the first puppet stars on children’s TV, bringing music, mischief and fun into homes across the country. Let’s celebrate this much-loved character and look back at the puppets and programmes that followed.

Our quiz has 30 images and questions to spark memories and conversation. You might recognise a familiar face, remember the name of a character, or recall the programme where you first saw them. There are some much-loved theme tunes to enjoy too (ask members which they remember - some highlights for me are the 'Rainbow' song, 'The Banana Splits' and 'I'm A Very Friendly Lion Named Parsley') along with a selection of great songs.

Do you remember watching Muffin the Mule or another puppet show when you were younger? Did you watch with your children or grandchildren? Which puppet was your favourite? There’s no pressure to get every answer right - this is a chance to share memories, have a guess, sing along and enjoy a nostalgic trip through children’s television.
